Britain's oldest fine arts institution celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2018. This talk explores a selection of its ground-breaking temporary loan exhibitions as well as the Summer Exhibition - held without interuption since 1769. We conside the work of certain world-renowned Royal Academicians, contemplate the RA's various homes before settling on its current Burlington House location and reveal the pivotal role of the RA schools.
